Applications Invited for Encephalitis and COVID-19 Seed Funding
Applications Invited for Encephalitis and COVID-19 Seed Funding
The Encephalitis Society is offering international research seed funding for specific projects looking at the relationship between encephalitis and COVID-19, from diagnosis and treatment to recovery and rehabilitation. With growing evidence that suggests the virus can cause neurological complications, including encephalitis, it is hoped that this funding will help scientists and physicians better understand the relationship and improve patient support going forward.
The aim of this scheme is to provide seed funding for small projects or pilot studies which will help secure future funding for potential large-scale projects.
Seed funding gives researchers the opportunity to use innovative methodologies and carry out a broad range of activities including:
Pilot and scoping studies.
Preliminary data gathering.
Proof-of-principle studies.
Planning sessions.
Collaborative network meetings.
Visit other research sites.
Undertake patient engagement and consultation.
The fund is open to applicants worldwide and to all levels. Priority will be given to those early on in their academic career.
Applicants must be affiliated to a recognised academic institution.
Grants of between £5,000 and £10,000 are available for projects of up to 18 months in duration.
Applications should be submitted by the deadline of 31 August 2020.
