BAAS/United States Embassy Small Grants Programme 2021
Grants up to £10,000 are available to support educational, academic and outreach activities that will strengthen the field of American Studies in the UK.
The British Association for American Studies (BAAS) works to promote, support and encourage the study of the United States in the universities, colleges and schools of the UK, and by independent scholars.
BAAS offers its Small Grants for cultural, educational and outreach activities that will foster American Studies and lead to a more accurate and constructive understanding of the United States in the United Kingdom. These grants are supported by the United States Embassy, London.
Eligible activities include:
- Faculty development and exchange
- Curriculum development at all educational levels
- Student exchanges.
- US and UK speaker programmes
- Conferences and symposia
- Public dissemination of academic research
The 2021 programme may also support non-partisan study of the 2020 US election.
In particular, BAAS encourages applications which seek to strengthen the field of American Studies in the UK, through activities that meet one or more of the following strategic objectives, which include encouraging work across academic societies and within universities.
Grants are available up to a maximum of £10,000 to those in the UK organising appropriate projects/activities. Eligible costs include travel (eg flights), room hire, marketing materials, honoraria, subsistence and overnight accommodation.
The final deadline for activities taking place during 2021 is 1 September 2021.
Applicants are normally notified of a decision within six weeks of the respective deadline.
