Cystic Fibrosis Europe Post-Doctoral Research Fellowship Open for Applications
Applications are invited for the 2022 CF Europe Post-Doctoral Research Fellowship, to support recently qualified post-doctoral researchers undertaking basic or translational research in cystic fibrosis at a host institution in Europe.
The ECFS/CF Europe Post-Doctoral Research Fellowship provides funding over two years to support recently-qualified post-doctoral researchers undertaking basic or translational research in cystic fibrosis (CF) at a host institution in the European Union, UK or associated country.
The fellowship is co-funded by the European Cystic Fibrosis Society (ECFS) and Cystic Fibrosis Europe (CFE) to support the career development of promising researchers and deliver research with the potential to improve survival and quality of life for people with cystic fibrosis. The award is a maximum of €60,000 per year, for two years, to fund the fellow’s salary and publication costs.
Applicants should have a PhD in the life sciences (or a similar field) obtained within the last three years, be no older than 35 years of age and a citizen of a European Union Member State (including the United Kingdom) or associated country.
The research project should aim to further understanding of the biology of CF and involve collaboration with at least one laboratory in another European country.
ECFS and CFE will favour applications in the following scientific areas:
- CFTR folding, trafficking and activity
- Cell physiology and ion transport
- Mucus and mucins
- Inflammation
- Infection
- Model systems for CF
- Innovative therapeutic approaches targeting the basic defect

Applications for the 2022/23 Fellowship must be submitted by the closing date of 16 January 2022.
The successful applicant will be announced at the ECFS annual conference in June 2022. Fellowships should commence in September 2022.
