Universities Ireland Invites Applications for History Bursary 2022-2023
Bursary funding of €13,000 per award is available to support postgraduate students in Ireland or Britain investigating a topic relating to the 1912-1923 period in Ireland.
Universities Ireland, the body that promotes collaboration amongst universities in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland, is offering bursaries to students undertaking postgraduate study in Ireland or the UK on a topic relating to the 1912-1923 period in Ireland – the decade of the First World War and the division of the island into the states of Ireland (Irish Free State) and Northern Ireland.
Applications are invited from graduates who have been accepted onto a postgraduate course (either a PhD or Master’s degree by research) on a full-time or part-time basis by an Irish or UK university for the 2022-2023 academic year on a relevant topic.
These bursaries are aimed primarily at students of history, although they are also open to students from related disciplines such as literature, politics, economics, sociology and religion. Applications are particularly welcome from students undertaking work on the impact of events in 1922 on the island of Ireland.
At least two bursaries of €13,000 each are available and they must be taken up for the academic year 2022-2023.
Applications incorporate an essay of 2,000 words outlining the proposed research topic.
The deadline to apply for a Universities Ireland History Bursary is 12 May 2022 (16:00).
Universities Ireland expected to inform successful candidates in June 2022.
