Else Kröner Fresenius Center for Medical Research Call for Proposals

The Else Kröner-Fresenius-Stiftung (EKFS – Else Kröner-Fresenius-Foundation) supports medical science and medical humanitarian aid projects.

The aim of the Else Kröner Fresenius Center for Medical Research call is to support institutions of higher education in Germany to improve research resources as well as to create innovative organisational structures that support medical research in university hospitals. The intention is to strengthen an existing, or establish a new, interdisciplinary area of focus in international cutting-edge research.

Eligible are institutions of higher education and non-university research institutions in Germany. Only one application per institution is permitted.

Up to €40 million is provided for a university for a period of 10 years.

The scheme comprises a two-step application process. Initially, applicants submit an Expression of Interest. This is then followed by the submission of a formal funding application for selected projects.

Expressions of Interest must be submitted by the deadline of 31 March 2023.
