AECC Talent Programme

Mobility fellowships for postdoctoral cancer researchers from around the world to develop their projects in selected cancer research centres in Spain.

The Asociación Española Contra el Cáncer (AECC – Spanish Association Against Cancer) is a non-profit organisation dedicated to reducing the impact of cancer and improving people’s lives. The Fundación Científica AECC (FCAECC – Scientific Foundation of the AECC) provides the Talent programme with co-financing from the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) COFUND programme of the European Commission to enable talented cancer researchers worldwide to carry out their projects in one of the selected host cancer research centres in Spain.

Postdoctoral applicants will freely propose a research project to be carried out at one of the available host organisations of their choice, following a bottom-up approach. The subject of the proposed project must focus on cancer research but may range from basic to translational, clinical or innovative research in the areas of prevention; screening and early diagnosis; disease monitoring; treatment; and cancer patient care.

In addition to working in a high-quality research environment, AECC Talent fellows will carry out international, intersectoral and interdisciplinary secondments ranging from one month to a year through which they will boost their networking opportunities and expand their interdisciplinarity. Fellows may be seconded to an entity of a different sector in Spain or abroad. The programme will fund mobility and research, training, and networking costs during secondments.

AECC Talent will also provide a comprehensive training programme to its fellows with yearly sessions that will range from specific courses and seminars on research skills to non-research oriented transferable skills, innovation and leadership courses provided by experts in the corresponding fields.

The current call will fund 15 fellowships with a duration of three years.
