Grants to support collaborative or individual research projects for researchers at risk working in all disciplines except medical and health sciences.
Established by Royal Charter in 1902, the British Academy is a registered charity and the UK’s national academy for the humanities and social sciences. It champions these fields by investing in research, engaging with the public and influencing policy.
The Academy, in partnership with Cara and the Leverhulme Trust, is offering the Researchers at Risk Research Support Grants to provide research support for researchers at risk. The Leverhulme Trust is providing funding of £1 million over five years targeted at providing research support for researchers at risk.
Grants are available to support research project activities for eligible researchers in all disciplines except medical and health sciences. Funding can:
- Facilitate initial project planning and development.
- Provide research assistance.
- Enable the advancement of research through conferences/workshops or visits by or to partner scholars.
Proposals for collaborative or individual research projects are equally welcome under this scheme. Applications will be assessed equally on their merits, with no preference as to the mode of enquiry. Applications should demonstrate that funds are sought for a clearly defined, discrete research activity, which will have an identifiable outcome.
