ARISE2 – Career Accelerator for Research Infrastructure Scientists Programme
Closing Date: 25/11/2024
The ARISE2 programme trains fellows from STEM backgrounds in the development of technologies and methods for improvement of scientific services while preparing them for careers in research infrastructures.
ARISE2 is a MSCA-funded postdoctoral fellowship programme offering talented science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fellows from around the world the opportunity to work on the development and/or improvement of technologies for life science research. Fellows will be trained in the development of technologies and methods for improvement of scientific services and will also be prepared for careers in research infrastructures (RI) to make these advances available to the scientific community.
ARISE2 fellows will develop their research expertise by working on projects; undergoing secondments and job shadowing; and receiving support from their supervisors. They will develop professional competencies through a dedicated training portfolio with a focus on the skills needed for leading roles in research infrastructures and service provision.
Applicants are invited to propose a project of their own design that relates to the development of new, or an improvement of existing, methods or technologies and that can be applied to the scientific questions of other researchers as a service and integrated into research infrastructures. The proposal should, whenever possible, foresee how the developed technology will simplify or automate FAIR data management for users, throughout the data life cycle. The project should extend beyond local interest, having potential for international transfer or user base.
Part of the project involves a secondment with an ARISE2 partner organisation or other external partner lasting for 2-6 months (or up to 11 months if the second host is participating in the project). The purpose of the secondment is to provide access to novel methods, instrumentation and skills.
ARISE2 fellows are part of EMBL’s postdoctoral programme with access to the EMBL’s Complementary Scientific Skills programme and Fellows Career service. Their training is complemented with mentoring, and networking possibilities, including inter-disciplinary and inter-sectoral exposure.
17 fellowships will be available for a period of three years.
Further details will be made available when the opportunity launches on 23 September 2024.
