Alfried Krupp Advancement Award Offers €1.1 Million for the Career Development of Young Professors in Germany
The charitable foundation Alfried Krupp von Bohlen und Halbach-Stiftung in Germany presents the annual Alfried Krupp Advancement Award for Young Professors (Alfried Krupp-Förderpreis) to recognise outstanding researchers in the areas of engineering, medical and natural science who recently took on their first professorship. The award is designed to promote the career of promising research staff in an early phase of their scientific career with the aim to develop and implement new ideas.
Eligible for the award are professors (W2 or W3) at German universities who are not older than 38 years of age.
The prize offers €1.1 million. The host university receives a flat-rate sum of €150,000 to cover indirect costs. The endowment is designed to cover costs for research-related staff, travel, materials as well as a personal allowance for the awardee over a period of five years.
Nominations may be submitted to the foundation by individuals, universities and research institutions in Germany. Each university can only put forward one candidate.
