Einstein Fellowship

Closing Date: 15/05/2025

Residential fellowship in Brandenburg, Germany for junior researchers who are interested in pursuing completely new or interdisciplinary approaches in their work.

The Einstein Forum is a foundation of the German federal state of Brandenburg. Its work focuses on knowledge exchange and public engagement across the arts and humanities, natural and social sciences, ethics and politics. The foundation organises a varied programme of conferences, workshops, podium discussions, and lectures that is aimed at bringing together researchers and scholars with a general audience.

As part of its work, the Einstein Forum awards the Einstein Fellowship in collaboration with the charitable foundation Wittenstein Stiftung. The fellowship offers outstanding young researchers the opportunity to engage in a project beyond their original area of specialisation. The objective is to encourage interdisciplinary working and support researchers who, in addition to producing superb work in their area of specialisation, are looking to expand their thinking across disciplinary boundaries to pursue a project that is significantly different from their previous work in terms of content, field and/or form.

Fellows are expected to propose a specific project they would like to pursue during their fellowship. The proposed project need not be entirely completed during the time of the fellowship, but can be the beginning of a longer project.

The fellowship is based at Einstein’s previous summerhouse in Caputh, Brandenburg and within easy reach of the universities and academic institutions of Potsdam and Berlin.
