AISI Challenge Fund
Closing Date: –
Funding for academic/research institutions and non-profit organisations in any country to advance the science of AI safety and security across the priority research areas of safeguards, control, alignment and societal resilience.
The AI Security Institute (AISI) is a research organisation within the UK Government’s Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT). Its mission is to equip governments with an empirical understanding of the safety of advanced artificial intelligence (AI) systems.
AISI has launched the Challenge Fund to advance the science of AI safety and security by addressing open challenges in the field. Applicants should develop projects across AISI’s priority research areas, which are: safeguards, control, alignment and societal resilience. The scheme aims to:
- Stimulate high-quality research aligned with AISI’s strategic focus areas.
- Foster innovation by funding novel, cutting-edge research projects.
- Bridge the gap between AISI, researchers and academia to accelerate the development of safe and secure AI solutions.
A diverse range of projects will be supported that contribute to the broader field of safe AI development and/or deployment. While there is a particular interest in AISI’s priority research areas, proposals will also be welcomed that explore other innovative topics relevant to the safe and secure development and/or deployment of AI systems. Proposals should demonstrate clear pathways to impact and offer research that would not otherwise occur without this funding.
