British Council International Skills Partnerships

Closing Date: 22/09/2025

Funding to support UK further education colleges or training organisations, who are looking to build a network and capacity to work internationally, to form skills partnerships with Uganda, Tanzania and Morocco.

British Council’s International Skills Partnerships form part of the Going Global Partnerships programme, which builds stronger, more inclusive, internationally connected higher education and technical and vocational education and training (TVET) systems by supporting partnerships between universities, colleges, education policy makers, civil society organisations and industry partners around the world. The partnerships aim to bring together organisations in the TVET sector from the UK and overseas to share their knowledge and expertise, and to collaborate on projects that focus on enhancing approaches to skills development internationally.

A key aspect of these collaborations is a focus on mutual sharing and learning. As well as strengthening TVET systems internationally, they bring a host of benefits to UK partners. These include unique professional development opportunities for staff, new knowledge and perspectives to enhance delivery, stronger recognition and international profile, and deeper relationships in key markets to support future collaboration and mobility opportunities.

The British Council are currently looking to set up Skills Partnerships with three countries: Uganda, Tanzania and Morocco.

Uganda: The selected UK-based skills organisation will partner with three TVET centres in Uganda and will collaborate with the Ugandan Ministry of Education as a key project stakeholder. Partners will share expertise in the areas of employer engagement and staff capacity building. Potential sectors for collaboration are construction, electrical installation or automotive engineering, based on the interest and specialism of the UK college.

Tanzania: The selected UK-based skills organisation will partner with three TVET centres in Tanzania, one of which is located in Zanzibar, and will collaborate with the Tanzanian Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, and Vocational Education and Training Authority as key project stakeholders.

Morocco: The selected UK-based skills organisation will collaborate with the Office of Vocational Training and Employment Promotion (OFPPT) – Morocco’s largest TVET provider – and two centres from their national network of construction and public works institutes – École Mohammed VI de Formation dans les Métiers du Bâtiment et des Travaux Publics located near Casablanca, and Institut Spécialisé de Technologie Appliquée du BTP, located near Rabat.
