NWO/Quantum Delta NL – Quantum Technology (NGF)

Funding to stimulate, strengthen and enhance fundamental or applied research for new innovations in quantum technology.

The Nationaal Groeifonds (NGF – National Growth Fund) is a government funding programme supporting projects that promote sustainable and structural long-term economic growth. The Fund invests, among other things, in sustainable research, development and innovation projects. The Nederlandse Organisatie voor Wetenschappelijk Onderzoek (NWO – Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research) is involved in several projects as organiser for NGF research funding programmes.

The Quantum Delta NL Quantumtechnology 2025 call for proposals aims to stimulate, solidify and strengthen fundamental research that forms the basis for new innovations in quantum technology, in particular the Catalyst (‘CAT’-) programmes as described in the Quantum Delta NL Growth Fund proposal:

• CAT-1: Quantum Computing and Simulation.
  • Deliver advantages over classical computer on real-world problems and economic end-user value.
  • Reach 100 qubits and single- and two-qubit error rates better than 10^-3.
  • Provide economic value to the Netherlands, by creating a strong value chain for quantum computing.
• CAT-2: National Quantum Network.
  • Deploy and operate the national Quantum Staging Network based on Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) technology.
  • Prepare for the next Generation of Quantum Networks by accelerating Quantum Internet R&D.
  • Maximising economic value by scaling up, international leadership and end-user participation.
• CAT-3: Quantum Sensing Applications.
  • Establish open facilities for testing quantum sensors.
  • Demonstrate use-case-driven proof-of-concept instruments.
  • Support the development of Quantum Sensing value chains.

Research from this call is intended to feed into technology development within one or more of the CATs.

This call for proposals falls under the responsibility of the NWO and has been developed in cooperation with Quantum Delta NL.
