GDCh Reinhard Zellner Award

Biennial award for innovative findings in the field of green hydrogen production and application for researchers in Germany.

Gesellschaft Deutscher Chemiker (GDCh – German Chemical Society) is a membership organisation bringing together people working in chemistry and the molecular sciences. The society is designed to promote chemistry in education, research and application. As part of its work, the society supports a number of research projects and publishes highly esteemed professional journals, particularly in applied chemistry. It also presents a number of research awards.

The GDCh Reinhard Zellner Award biennially in recognition of an outstanding contribution to scientific and/or technical advances in the production and application of green hydrogen in industrial processes and the energy sector, including the production of CO2-reduced fuels and combustibles. Relevant research must address the production of climate-friendly green hydrogen and/or its application in industry, energy management and mobility. It should have achieved outstanding, innovative results which are able to contribute to accelerating the transformation to a CO2-free industrial society. 

The award was established in 2026 and is financed by Reinhard-Zellner-Stiftung (Reinhard Zellner Foundation), a charitable trust administered by GDCh.
