Einstein Fellowship for Interdisciplinary Research by Young Researchers Worldwide Issues 2027 Call
Five‑ to six‑month residency in Brandenburg, Germany supports innovative projects from researchers aged under 35.
The Einstein Forum in Brandenburg has opened applications for its 2027 Einstein Fellowship, a programme designed to support outstanding early career researchers seeking to explore ideas beyond the boundaries of their established disciplines. Run in collaboration with the charitable foundation Wittenstein Stiftung, the fellowship reflects the Forum’s broader mission to promote public engagement and exchange across the humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, ethics, politics, and the arts.
The fellowship offers researchers under the age of 35 the opportunity to pursue a self‑designed project that differs significantly in content, field, or approach from their previous work. The aim is to encourage bold, interdisciplinary thinking and support researchers who demonstrate both deep expertise in their current area and a genuine commitment to expanding their intellectual horizons. Projects begun during the fellowship do not need to be completed within its five‑ to six‑month duration but may form the foundation of longer‑term research.
Fellows are hosted at Albert Einstein’s former summerhouse in Caputh, Brandenburg, situated within easy reach of academic institutions in Potsdam and Berlin. The residency environment is intended to facilitate reflective, cross‑disciplinary exploration as well as engagement with the Einstein Forum’s broad programme of conferences, workshops, lectures, and public discussions.
The award provides a stipend of €10,000, reimbursement of travel expenses, and furnished accommodation for the full duration of the fellowship. Applicants worldwide are eligible, regardless of whether they have begun or completed a PhD, provided they hold a university degree in the humanities, social sciences, or natural sciences and meet the age requirement.
