BMFTR – Intelligent Robotics for Environmental Technology (Robots4CleanTech)

Closing Date: 15-09-2026

Funding for joint projects that develop innovative, intelligent robotic systems for specific applications in the CleanTech sector in Germany.

Within the Federal Government’s Hightech Agenda Deutschland (HTAD – Hightech Agenda Germany) framework programme, the initiative ‘Robots4CleanTech – Intelligent Robotics for Environmental Technology’ (Robots4CleanTech – Intelligente Robotik für die Umwelttechnik) by the Bundesministerium für Forschung, Technologie und Raumfahrt (BMFTR – Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space) aims to develop AI-based robotic systems for applications in environmental technology in Germany.

Funding is provided for joint R&D projects that develop and prototype innovative robotic components and systems for the CleanTech sector. Solutions should strengthen the circular economy, increase resource efficiency and resource sovereignty, and lead to more resilient technical infrastructures and natural systems. Particular emphasis is placed on systems with high commercialisation potential and clear prospects for market launch.

Projects should bring together expertise from the fields of environmental technology, robotics and AI. This encompasses both industrial and mobile robotics solutions. The participation of the manufacturer or developer of the relevant robotics platform or the robot’s key components in the project consortium is expressly encouraged. Similarly, the active involvement of relevant market participants is a prerequisite.

BMFTR has appointed the project management agency Projektträger Karlsruhe (PTKA) to administer the programme on its behalf.
