Award for researchers working in the sciences or humanities in Germany, who have communicated their scientific findings to the public with exceptional success.

The Communicator Award (Communicator-Preis) is given jointly by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG – German Research Foundation) and the Stifterverband (Donors’ Association for the Promotion of Sciences and Humanities in Germany).

The annual Communicator Award honours researchers or teams in any subject area who have displayed an exceptional level of originality, creativity and versatility in presenting their research area and findings to the broader public, while also rendering outstanding services to the dialogue between the sciences and the public in general. Researchers who are particularly creative in their science communication, taking new, courageous paths and addressing their target groups in suitable and effective ways are the main target of this award.

Eligible for nominations are researchers who are employed at universities and research institutions in Germany. Individual researchers as well as small research groups are eligible for nomination.

Nominations may be put forward by leaders of universities and research institutions as well as previous Communicator Award recipients. The DFG also accepts direct applications.

The prize is valued at €50,000.
