Pierre Lamoure Prize

Prize to reward postdoctoral mathematics research in France with applications for the socio-economic sector.

The Fondation Mathématique Jacques Hadamard (FMJH – Jacques Hadamard Mathematics Foundation) is a French mathematics foundation based on the Université Paris-Saclay campus. Its missions include developing structural initiatives on the campus, particularly concerning postgraduate training, and accelerating interactions with the business world and other scientific disciplines.

Each year, the FMJH offers the Pierre Lamoure prize, rewarding postdoctoral mathematics research that directly deals with a problem from the socio-economic sphere. The prize was conceived to encourage young mathematicians to take the scientific risk of exploring research at the interface of socio-economics. It is intended to recognise novel research in this field and, beyond the usual academic criteria, will evaluate work based on its economic or societal impact. The Prize is named for Pierre Lamoure as a symbol of science and mathematics as vectors of progress for human activity in general and for economic activity in particular.
