NWO/Open Science NL – FAIR Research Outputs

Closing Date: 23-02-2027

Funding to support projects that make non-traditional research outputs, such as datasets, software, protocols and other research products, more openly available and FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable and Reusable), or that directly support the open and FAIR sharing of such outputs.

The Nederlandse Organisatie voor Wetenschappelijk Onderzoek supports Dutch research and is responsible for this call through Open Science NL. The call forms part of Open Science NL’s 2026–2027 work programme and its priority concerning incentives for the transition to open science.

The FAIR Research Outputs programme aims to increase the scientific and societal impact of research by making research outputs as open and FAIR, meaning Findable, Accessible, Interoperable and Reusable, as possible. It focuses particularly on non-traditional outputs rather than conventional journal articles, conference proceedings and books.

Eligible work may involve research data, legacy datasets, databases, training material, policy documents, protocols, research software and code, models, tools, methods, hardware designs, scholarly blog posts, media outputs and creative or artistic works. Funding may also support the development of disciplinary guidelines, the adoption or development of interoperability standards, and tools for which there is a demonstrated and documented need in the research community.

General open science awareness activities, conferences, journal creation, replication studies, research on open science, science communication activities and educational initiatives are not eligible.
