Action Medical Research Opens Fellowships for Innovations in Child Health
Action Medical Research is a UK charity that funds medical research to help find a cure for diseases affecting sick and disabled babies, children and young people.
The charity’s focus is on child health, including problems affecting pregnancy, childbirth, babies, children and young people. The emphasis is on clinical research and research at the interface between clinical and basic science. Research is funded that is both innovative and of a high standard. Action Medical Research also supports research and development of equipment and techniques to improve diagnosis, therapy and assistive technology (including orthoses, prostheses and aids to daily living) and encourages applications in the field of medical engineering.
Action Medical Research’s Research Training Fellowships are for training in research techniques and methodology in subjects relevant to the remit of the charity. The scheme aims to train the research leaders of the future in child health. The fellowship provides the opportunity to undertake a period of research training that will be relevant to applicants’ future careers.
Applications are invited from medical graduates, clinicians, bioengineers/biomedical engineers, research nurses, physiotherapists and allied health professionals who wish to develop a long-term career in academic medicine in the UK in areas relevant to child health. Host institutions can be university departments, teaching hospitals or other recognised research centres within the UK.
Funding of up to £300,000 is available for fellowships lasting two to three years.
There is a two-stage application process consisting of a mandatory outline proposal followed by an invited full application.
Outline proposals must be submitted by the deadline of 2 July 2025 (17:00).
