ADEME COOP’ÉCO Programme: Territorial Economic Cooperation for Transition

Closing Date: 17/04/2026

Funding to support participatory action research, associating researchers with socio-economic and institutional actors interested in the production of new knowledge on territorial economic transition cooperation.

France’s Environment and Energy Management Agency (ADEME) contributes to the implementation of public policy regarding the environment, energy and sustainable development. It provides expert advice to businesses, local authorities and communities, government bodies and the public at large, to enable them to establish and consolidate their environmental initiatives. As part of this work, the agency helps finance research projects related to the environment, energy and sustainable development.

The COOP’ÉCO programme supports participatory action research, associating researchers and socio-economic and institutional actors interested in the production of new knowledge on territorial economic transition cooperation. It aims to explore to what extent and under what conditions territorial economic transition cooperation (CETT) paves the way for a profound and systemic transformation of modes of production and distribution, lifestyles and public action, to meet major ecological challenges.

The programme produces, capitalises on and transmits scientific and practical knowledge to address this challenge. The call aims to support participatory action research involving researchers and socio-economic and institutional actors interested in the production of new knowledge on territorial economic transition cooperation.

The call is divided into three axes:

  • Axis 1: Which economic models can address ecological challenges?
  • Axis 2: What public policy models can support the development of these economic models?
  • Axis 3: What assessment approaches and methodologies are required?
