ANR-DFG French-German Joint Research Projects in the Humanities and Social Sciences Open for Proposals

Funding is available for bilateral collaborative research projects involving researchers from France and Germany, in the humanities and social sciences.

In line with its activities in the interest of research, the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG – German Research Foundation) maintains partnerships and relations with a large number of partner organisations on all continents, including the Agence Nationale de la Recherche (ANR – National Research Agency) in France.

As part of their ongoing cooperation, the DFG and ANR are jointly operating a programme for bilateral collaborative research projects in all areas of the humanities and social sciences. The programme is designed to encourage and further develop research collaboration between Germany and France. The support of early career researchers is a key focus of the programme and postdoctoral researchers are particularly encouraged to apply. Research funding is provided for up to three years.

For German applicants, application is open to researchers working at German research institutions who have completed their research training (generally a doctorate). Funding will be provided according to the rules of DFG Research Grants and can be requested to cover a number of modules.

For French applicants, teams must be composed of at least one French public research organisation or team. Funding will cover project-related costs such as personnel expenses, equipment, rent, subcontracting costs, consultancy costs, overhead and other operating expenses.
