Applications Welcomed for the 2021 Terra Foundation/American Academy in Rome Affiliated Fellowship
Affiliated fellowship to enable a researcher interested in American art and visual culture prior to 1980 to undertake a residency at the American Academy in Rome.
The American Academy in Rome is an American overseas centre for independent studies and advanced research in the fine arts and humanities.
The Terra Foundation for American Art was established in 1978 by art collector and cultural ambassador Daniel J Terra.
The Terra Foundation/American Academy in Rome Affiliated Fellowship aims to support a postdoctoral or senior scholar to conduct research on American art and visual culture (excluding architecture) prior to 1980. The duration of the fellowship is four to five months, during which time the fellow will be in residence at the American Academy in Rome.
To be eligible, the following criteria apply:
- Applicants may be of any nationality, provided their research would be facilitated by residence at the Academy.
- Applicants must hold a PhD at the time of application.
- Senior researchers are welcome to apply.
Topics in relation to Italian-American exchanges and requiring first-hand exposure to collections and archives in Rome will be given priority.
The fellowship consists of a stipend of $2,500/month, housing, meals, a private study, and a privileged access to Rome.
