Approaching Deadline for Volvo Environment Prize 2026
First awarded in 1990, the annual Volvo Environment Prize recognises environmental scientists and researchers, amongst others, for scientific excellence and contributions to wider society that in broad terms fall within the environmental and sustainability field.
The Prize is awarded by an independent foundation and its laureates are selected by an International Prize Jury composed of renowned scientists.
Scientists worldwide are eligible to be nominated for the prize, providing their discipline is relevant to the environment. Nominations should clearly show impacts outside of the specific scientific discipline. Each nomination remains valid for three years.
Anyone may nominate a candidate for the prize. Nominators often include scientists and engineers, scientific establishments, universities and research institutes. Self-nominations are not accepted.
An award of SEK 1.5 million is made to the winner, who is also presented with a commemorative diploma and glass sculpture. The award ceremony takes place in Stockholm in November each year.
