Asian Language Studies Scholarship 2024/2025 for German Graduates Launched by DAAD
The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) is a German national agency for the support of international academic cooperation.
DAAD offers the Asian Language Studies Scholarship (Stipendien zum Studium asiatischer Sprachen) to graduates of any discipline (except Asian philologies or cultural studies) in Germany who wish to improve their knowledge of Asian languages. This scholarship gives applicants the opportunity to complete a language course over one academic year in their target country. Language courses in the following countries are supported: PR China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macao, Singapore, Japan, Korea, South Asia, Southeast Asia and Oceania.
Applicants must have completed a degree at a German institute of higher education and obtained one of the following degrees no longer than five years ago:
- Bachelor’s degree (at least three years’ long).
- Master’s degree.
- Magister.
- Diplom.
- First or Second Legal State Examination.
- First or Second State Examination for teaching.
- Section 3 of the Medical Examination.
- Section 2 of the Pharmaceutical Review.
Applicants must already have basic knowledge of the language they wish to study.
The maximum funding period is one academic year. The scholarship includes a monthly stipend, contributions to travel costs and contributions to insurance.
