Beug Foundation Award Promotes Metastasis Research in Europe with €12,000

Beug Stiftung für Metastasierungsforschung (Beug Foundation for Metastasis Research) is a charitable foundation in Germany. It is dedicated to promoting both basic and translational research with the ultimate aim to develop novel cancer therapies.

The foundation’s biennial Metastasis Prize supports new and original approaches to basic research on cancer metastasis, as well as new activities in the field of translational research. Two or more prizes are awarded every two years to early to mid-career scientists working in metastasis research in Europe.

The award is offered in two categories: a Junior prize for early career researchers, and a Senior prize for scientists in more advanced stages of their career. The prize is given for research project proposals that set out to generate novel ideas and approaches for future metastasis research.

Eligible for the award are early to mid-career researchers working at universities or non-profit organisations in the countries of the European Union, also including Norway, Switzerland and the UK. To be considered for the junior prize, applicants must be within five years of completing their PhD degree. Candidates for the senior prize must be within 12 years of completing their doctorate.

Prize winners will receive a grant of €12,000. The award money is intended to support the development of preliminary results which may allow the candidate to apply for additional third-party funding from national or international funding organisations.
