British Council Call For Regional Collaborations in Academic Water Research
Funding for research institutions in the UK, Israel and Middle East and North Africa (MENA) to collaborate on regional water research.
The British Council and the UK Science and Innovation Network in Israel have launched a call for proposals to strengthen and support collaborations in regional water research involving research institutes in the UK, Israel and Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.
The programme is not intended to fund research directly, rather to support the development of partnerships and networks, preparation for research, and the communication and application of research to public and academic audiences. A total fund of £55,000 is available, which will be allocated to between one and three projects. Grants will be in the range of £20,000 to £55,000.
Projects should involve one or more of the following:
- Promote collaborative research at the planning stage by, for example, creating new networks, and collaborating on grant submissions and funding opportunities.
- Facilitate research through projects such as (virtual or face-to-face) meetings, symposia, conferences, new collaborations and sharing research facilities.
- Apply research via activities including policy work, technology transfer and collaborations with industry and third sector organisations.
- Communicate academic research to students, public audiences and other relevant groups with, for example, shared courses and teaching programmes, and public activities.
Projects must fit one or more of the themes of water research, including but not limited to: irrigation; water purification; groundwater studies; sanitation; biological and physicochemical water and wastewater treatment; food security; education; monitoring; climate change adaptation.
Projects must involve applicants from the UK, Israel and Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. The primary applicant will be a researcher at one of the UK or Israeli institutions. All partner institutions must be recognised in the UK.
Applications should be submitted by the deadline on 15 October 2022.
