BSSH Bridging Grants

Grant for early-career researchers to support the transition to postdoctoral employment in any area of sports history.

The British Society of Sports History (BSSH) aims to promote the study of the history of sport, and supports preservation of the sporting record.

The BSSH Bridging Grant is awarded annually to an early-career researcher who has submitted their PhD but has not yet secured a full-time academic position. The grant aims to support the transition to postdoctoral employment by contributing to living, research, and related costs for a period of 12 months following PhD completion.
