€250,000 Heinrich Wieland Prize for Frontier Research in the Life Sciences Now Accepting Nominations

Boehringer Ingelheim Stiftung (Boehringer Ingelheim Foundation) is an independent, non-profit public foundation based in Mainz, Germany, that promotes basic research in medicine, biology, chemistry and pharmacy.

Since 1964, the Foundation has been awarding the Heinrich Wieland Prize annually to outstanding scientists whose pioneering research has pushed the boundaries of knowledge in biochemistry, biology, chemistry and physiology. The focus of the award is on discoveries that deepen the understanding of life on earth and pave the way for new medical breakthroughs. This includes research contributions from basic research in chemistry, biochemistry and the physiology of biologically active molecules and systems, as well as their clinical importance.

Eligible for nominations are outstanding scientists in the fields of biochemistry, biology, chemistry and physiology worldwide.

The prize consists of a monetary award of €250,000.
