€50,000 Ernst Schering Prize Announced to Recognise Pioneering Basic Research in Biology, Medicine and Chemistry

Annual prize awarded to scientists worldwide whose pioneering research has yielded new, inspiring models or led to fundamental shifts in biomedical knowledge.

The Schering Foundation (Schering Stiftung) promotes science and art, focusing on the life and natural sciences and contemporary visual and performing arts, including dance and music.

The Ernst Schering Prize for Pioneering Basic Research in Biology, Medicine and Chemistry honours scientists worldwide whose pioneering research has yielded new, inspiring models or led to fundamental shifts in biomedical knowledge.

The award recognizes exceptional achievements in basic research across the life sciences. It is designed to support outstanding scientists:

  • Who perform biological, medical or chemical basic research in the field of biomedicine.
  • Whose pioneering research has resulted in new and inspiring pathways or led to breakthroughs in biomedical knowledge.
  • Who participate in relevant debates between science and society, or who have started initiatives to guide future generations and inspire them to further their career.

Eligible nominees are both individual scientists and collaborative teams worldwide. Nominations may be made by well-established scientists, scientific societies and scientific organisations.

The prize consists of a monetary award of €50,000.
