EKFS Offers €750,000 to Establish New Else Kröner Research Schools in General Medicine

Funding for the establishment of group research programmes at medical faculties and university hospitals in Germany to enable physicians to develop their research work towards a professional career as clinician scientist in general medicine.

The Else Kröner-Fresenius-Stiftung (EKFS – Else Kröner-Fresenius-Foundation) supports medical science and medical-humanitarian aid projects.

The Else Kröner Research Schools in General Medicine (Else Kröner Forschungskollegs in der Allgemeinmedizin) funding programme supports medical faculties and university clinics in Germany in order to establish group research schools for physicians. This should provide their talented doctors with an ideal environment to deepen their research work and enter a successful career path as a clinician scientist. The programme aims to enable physicians to conduct high-quality research projects during or after their specialist training in general medicine and to publish their findings.

Applications should envisage a joint scientific programme that will enable physicians to develop and implement concrete, patient-oriented research projects in general medicine. Projects in health services research are welcome, as are other topics that strengthen scientifically sound, evidence-based patient care.

Professors and lecturers at medical faculties in Germany are eligible to apply. Only one application may be submitted from each medical faculty.

Each research school may be supported with a grant of €750,000 for a period of three years.
