FFRD Accepting Applications for 2025 Diabetes Research Grants for Francophone Researchers

The Fondation Francophone pour la Recherche sur le Diabète (FFRD – Francophone Foundation for Diabetes Research) is a foundation reconnue d’utilité publique that promotes and supports research on diabetes and metabolic diseases, particularly through public and private collaboration. The FFRD is engaged in all stages of research on diabetes and metabolic diseases and aims to provide permanent funding for long-term clinical and experimental research.

FFRD offers research grants each year and is open exclusively to francophone researchers. The programme supports clinical, basic and translational research into all forms of diabetes: type 1 diabetes, type 2 diabetes and gestational diabetes. Example topics covered through this programme include, but are not limited to: protecting and replacing the pancreatic B cell; molecular mechanisms contributing to insulin resistance; implications of diabetes for other key organs (liver, adipose tissue, intestines); how the microbiome contributes to metabolic diseases.

FFRD will fund 2-3 research projects. Its total budget for this fund is €600,000, with a maximum of €300,000 awarded per project.
