French Government Opens 2026 ‘Make Our Planet Great Again’ (MOPGA) Mobility Fellowship Programme

Make Our Planet Great Again (MOPGA) is an initiative of the President of the Republic of France, aiming to engage researchers and students, entrepreneurs, non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and all of civil society in the fight against global warming. The initiative offers various programmes to foster the reception of international students and researchers in France, funded by France’s Ministries of Europe and Foreign Affairs (MEAE) and Higher Education and Research (MESR) and administered by Campus France.

Make Our Planet Great Again: Visiting Fellowship Programme for Early Career Researchers (also known as the Young Researchers Grant Programme) supports non-French postdoctoral researchers who wish to conduct research projects in French research institutions.

The 2026 programme (MOPGA 9) covers the following areas of research:

  • Earth systems.
  • Climate change and sustainability.
  • Energy transition.
  • Societal challenges of environmental issues.
  • Human, animal and ecosystem health as part as a ‘One Health’ approach.

Candidates must meet the following criteria in order to be eligible:

  • Possess a doctoral degree awarded within the past five years.
  • Have not resided in France for more than 90 days by the application deadline.
  • Are not French nationals.

French research units recognised by the Ministry of Higher Education and Research are eligible to host visiting fellows.

Fellowships under the 2026 programme will be awarded for a 12-month period starting between September and December 2026 providing a monthly allowance and a contribution to relocation.

Applications to the 2026 programme must be submitted by 12 December 2025.

Campus France expects to announce results in May or June 2026.
