INCa Research Chair in Artificial Intelligence and Clinical Research in Oncology

Closing Date: 27/11/2025

Funding available to establish a research chair with the intention of creating a research programme exploring the use of artificial intelligence and clinical research in the field of oncology.

France’s Institut National du Cancer (INCa – National Cancer Institute) was created in 2004 and is the health and science agency responsible for cancer control in France. It reports to the French Ministry of Social Affairs and Health and the Ministry of National Education, Higher Learning and Research. Its goals include reducing the incidence of avoidable cancers and the number of cancer deaths, improving the quality of life of people with cancer during and after their illness, and reducing inequalities related to cancer.

In partnership with Paris Cité University, INCa is looking to establish a research chair aimed at promoting the development of artificial intelligence (AI) applied to clinical research in oncology by structuring an interdisciplinary research programme. The objective is to develop robust and validated models, while ensuring the transparency, reliability, and security of health data. The chair will constitute a space of excellence and reference to explore and define the conditions for integrating AI into clinical research in oncology, in collaboration with academic, industrial and regulatory stakeholders.

The research programme developed by the chair should have the following objectives:

  • The optimisation of the use of real world data in oncology clinical research.
  • Development and validation of synthetic control branches.
  • Artificial data generation and simulated cohorts – working towards a new approach to clinical research.
