Fondation Bettencourt Schueller (Bettencourt Schueller Foundation) is a French non-profit organisation, established in 1987. Its mission is to make a lasting impact on the life sciences research ecosystem and to boost the influence of French biomedical research, accelerating the innovation process. The Foundation offers prizes, donations, personalised support and communication, as well as co-creation initiatives, to help meet its aims.
The Liliane Bettencourt Prize for Life Sciences is awarded annually to a researcher under 45 years of age for the excellence of their work and their remarkable contribution to their field of scientific research. The Prize is awarded in alternate years to a researcher established in France or a researcher working in another European country. The 2026 edition will be awarded to a researcher working outside France in a laboratory located in an European Union (EU) or European Free Trade Association (EFTA) member state, who is also a national of an EU or EFTA member state.
