Fellowships available to science journalists and life scientists at the beginning of their careers, to fund stays in media outlets, editorials offices or research institutions.
The European Molecular Biology Organisation (EMBO) works to facilitate top-level life sciences research in Europe through supporting talented researchers, stimulating scientific exchange and advancing policies for a world-class European research environment.
Funded by a private donation by Maria Leptin, EMBO offers Science Journalism Fellowships which aim to support science journalists and life scientists entering careers as science journalists covering life science research. Fellows receive stipends for a duration of three to twelve months to fund their stays in media outlets of any type, editorials offices or research institutions with the intention that fellows are able to advance in their careers as science journalists.
The scheme is designed to promote science journalism skills in the field of life sciences and basic research, but is not intended to focus on theoretical work about journalism.
Two to three scholarships can be awarded per application period.
