MICROBES-4-CLIMATE (M4C) Transnational Access Programme
Closing Date: 30/06/2025
Free-of-charge transnational access opportunities to encourage research tackling the challenges presented by climate change to terrestrial biodiversity and ecosystems.
MICROBES-4-CLIMATE (M4C) is an Horizon Europe-funded project designed to deepen the comprehension of the complex relationships among microorganisms, plants, and soil within the framework of climate change. The project has a total budget of €14,494,818.43 over a 60 month period from February 2024 to January 2029.
M4C runs a Transnational Access (TNA) programme to enable users from research organisations, universities, and industry (biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, agriculture, environment, and more) to apply for free access to a range of advanced Research Infrastructures (RIs) across multiple countries that provide services, facilities, resources and technologies. The aims are to break down geographical barriers, promote collaboration and accelerate scientific progress by providing researchers with support and access to resources and expertise.
The resources provided through the programme are organised into the following nine main groups:
- Supply of biological resources.
- Preservation of biological resources.
- Isolation of microbial resources from soil and plant samples.
- Identification and characterisation of microbial resources.
- Soil and plant characterisation technologies.
- On-site access to facilities for microbial discovery.
- On-site access to facilities for controlled plant cultivation and phenotyping.
- Big Data & Machine Learning infrastructure and tools.
- Remote consultancy.
The TNA programme offers flexible access options, from in-person to remote access. TNA also promotes interdisciplinary and cross-border collaboration by interconnecting researchers with global experts. Access to exclusive testing environments contributes to high-quality research and impact, turning TNA into an invaluable tool for scientific advancement.
