MRF Research Fellowships in Antimicrobial Resistance

Fellowship awards to support early and mid-career researchers undertaking research on Antimicrobial Resistance, with a focus on human health research themes.

The Medical Research Foundation (MRF) is an independent research charity established by the Medical Research Council to fund cutting-edge research to increase understanding of disease and benefit public health.

The MRF has allocated a total fund of £2.5 million for the Research Fellowships in Antimicrobial Resistance to support researchers and clinical academics at institutions in the UK conducting research in the field of Antimicrobial Resistance, with a focus on human-health research themes.

The fellowships operate across two streams – Early-Career Fellowships and Mid-Career Fellowships – to support timely research on antimicrobial resistance while also supporting the career development of outstanding researchers and building capacity within the AMR research field.

Proposals in all areas of research relevant to Antimicrobial Resistance will be considered, with particular encouragement given to proposals which include research investigating the following themes in relation to human health:

  • Climate change or the environment and AMR.
  • The impact of AMR on children and young people.
  • Social sciences, community and policy.
  • Large scale data and genomics.
  • Infection prevention and control.
  • Global studies.
