New €600 Million Connecting Europe Facility (CEF-2) Energy Call

Funding for studies and works in the fields of electricity, smart electricity grids, smart gas grids, CO₂ networks, hydrogen, electrolysers and gas derogation..

The European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA) has launched a call for proposals for key cross-border EU energy infrastructure projects under the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) for Energy.

The call has a total budget of €600 million to co-finance studies and works for both Projects of Common Interest (PCIs) and Projects of Mutual Interest (PMIs). PCIs are key infrastructure projects aiming at completing the European internal energy market and help the EU to achieve its energy and climate objectives: delivering affordable, secure, and sustainable energy for all Europeans while pursuing a climate-neutral economy by 2050. PMIs are key cross-border energy infrastructure projects between the EU and non-EU countries, which contribute to the energy and climate policy objectives of the Union.

Applicants (beneficiaries and affiliated entities) must be legal entities (public or private bodies) established in:

  • EU Member States (including overseas countries and territories (OCTs)).
  • EEA countries and countries associated to the CEF Programme or countries which are in ongoing negotiations for an association agreement and where the agreement enters into force before grant signature.

Registration is open until 13 May 2026 (17:00) for a Virtual Info Day on 18 May 2026 to present the policy context of the call, the application and evaluation process.
