New ‘Futureversities’ Programme to Support Innovation in Higher Education in Germany
Stifterverband (German Donor’s Association), in collaboration with the Heinz Nixdorf Stiftung, has launched the new programme ‘Futureversities – Scaling, Anchoring and Shaping the Future’. It is designed to enhance the resilience and long-term sustainability of higher education institutions in Germany with grants of up to €100,000.
The initiative supports universities, faculties or project teams that have already developed innovative approaches and seek to scale and embed them within institutional structures. Funding is available for projects that address systemic challenges and provide practical solutions to issues such as widening access for underrepresented student groups, adapting curricula to evolving skills needs, enhancing learning experiences, and increasing institutional agility.
Up to six projects will be selected, with each eligible to receive up to €100,000 over a period of two years. Funding may be used for personnel, material and travel costs. In addition to financial support, the programme offers non-material support, including workshops, mentoring, peer-learning and networking opportunities.
The programme is part of the Vision Track of the Stifterverband’s Future Mission Education (Zukunftsmission Bildung). Eligible applicants are higher education institutions (Hochschulen) in Germany.
Interested parties are invited to attend one of two digital workshops which will be held on 3 and 4 July 2025.
