Nominations Open for FEBS/EMBO Women in Science Award 2027

Award for female scientists in Europe who have made significant contributions to life sciences research within the past five years.

The European Molecular Biology Organisation (EMBO) facilitates world class life science research in Europe by supporting talented researchers, promoting scientific exchange and advancing policies that strengthen the European research environment. The Federation of European Biochemical Societies (FEBS) is one of Europe’s largest societies for the molecular life sciences, representing members from biochemistry and molecular biology societies across Europe and neighbouring regions.

The FEBS/EMBO Women in Science Award is a joint initiative of FEBS and EMBO that recognises and celebrates outstanding female scientists working in Europe. It honours both research excellence over the past five years and a commitment to supporting women in science through leadership, mentorship and public outreach. Research in any area of the life sciences, including agricultural and biomedical fields, is eligible. Winners serve as inspiring role models for future generations of women in science.

Nominees should be female scientists working in an EMBC Member State or FEBS member country who have made outstanding contributions to life sciences research and significantly advanced understanding of a particular discipline in Europe over the past five years. There is no requirement for the nominee, nominator or supporters to be associated with EMBO or FEBS.

The winner will receive a €10,000 prize and will present a special plenary lecture at the FEBS Congress.
