OeAW GO.INVESTIGATIO Fellowship

Grants for researchers in the humanities and cultural studies to undertake library, archive and field research stays outside Austria which are necessary for preparing scientific papers or publications or for drafting external funding applications.

The Austrian Academy of Sciences (ÖeAW – Österreichische Akademie der Wissenschaften) is the leading Austrian non-university institution for science and research. Its mission is to promote the sciences and humanities in every respect and in every field, particularly in fundamental research.

The Academy maintains 27 research institutes that are dedicated to innovative basic research across the arts, humanities and social and natural sciences. Its mission is to support research and the interdisciplinary exchange of knowledge and the dissemination of new insights with the aim of interpreting and conserving cultural heritage and contributing to progress in science and society as a whole.

To support the development of promising young talents working outside of its own institutes, the Academy offers a range of fellowships, prizes and other opportunities to support the work and professional development of highly qualified young scholars.

The OeAW GO.INVESTIGATIO fellowship grants provide funding for humanities and cultural studies researchers at institutions in Austria to visit a library or archive or undertake a field research stay outside of Austria in connection with the drafting of a scientific paper or publication or the preparation of an external funding application.

Priority will be given to applications for projects to be carried out at one of the ÖeAW’s branch offices in Athens, Rome and Cairo, which offer extensive opportunities to network with local researchers and offer free accommodation and support.
