PEPR ICCARE: ANR Opens Call for Proposals for France 2030 Programme on Cultural and Creative Industries

ANR has launched a call within the context of PEPR ICCARE, a France 2030 dedicated to strengthening the country’s cultural and creative sectors.

Funded through the France 2030 investment plan, the French Government launched a Programme et Équipements Prioritaires de Recherche (PEPR – Priority Research Programme and Equipment titled ICCARE, focused on the cultural and creative industries (CCI). Constituting the research component of the Government’s national acceleration strategy for the CCI. the PEPR has a total budget of €25 million over six years. Over the course of this duration, the programme seeks to lead consistent activity between the research communities (humanities and social sciences/informatics) and cultural and creative actors, utilising a process of joint construction, direction and promotion. The PEPR aims to both support the CCI sector in its transformation and adaptation to digital, economic and social challenges of the future while assisting research communities in taking into account and integrating research results into the CCI sector.

The present call for proposals, operated by The Agence Nationale de la Recherche (French National Research Agency), aims to instigate projects with original and ambitious objectives, aligning with the general CCI research strategy. The call encourages interdisciplinary research involving both the humanities and social sciences and informatics.  A variety of themes may be explored, with particular attention paid to research focused on issues related to artificial intelligence (AI); value sharing; fighting the manipulation of information and protecting its integrity; and the links between culture and health.

ANR beneficiaries must be French higher education and/or research establishments, or groups of such establishments. Consortia may include international academic research structures; however, they will not be entitled to ANR funding. Likewise, private companies and CCI associations may be involved as partners but are not entitled to ANR funding.

The coordinating establishment must be a French higher education and/or research establishment. Consortia must comprise at least two research structures.

Each project may request funding between €800,000 and €1 million. Projects will have a maximum duration of four years.
