Pre-announcement: ZonMw Set to Open Two Calls on Infectious Disease Control in May 2026
Small-scale pilots and targeted research impulses to address pressing public health questions.
Two new funding calls are expected to open in May 2026 as part of the Infectious Disease Control 2025-2030 programme, aimed at addressing outstanding research questions in infectious disease control in the Netherlands.
The parallel calls, titled ‘Pilots for Infectious Disease Control – from small steps to major insights’ and ‘Research Impulse Infectious Disease Control’, will focus on small-scale pilot research and targeted research impulses, and are intended to strengthen and further develop existing research in areas where urgent challenges and opportunities remain. Both calls will be limited to projects addressing one or more of the following themes: sexually transmitted infections, non-foodborne zoonoses and vector-borne diseases, and vulnerable groups and children.
The calls are expected to offer up to €50,000 per application. Applications will be assessed on a first-come, first-served basis. Funding may be requested on behalf of public or private legal entities established within the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
An information meeting is planned for 12 May 2026. During this session, prospective applicants will receive further explanation of the application process for the calls.
Full conditions and submission requirements will be made available when the calls are officially published.
