Royal Academy of Engineering Award for Industry/Academia Collaborations Open for Applications
The Royal Academy of Engineering (RAEng) presents the annual Bhattacharyya Award to recognise and celebrate outstanding collaborations between academia and industry that address a complex challenge and create real-world benefit. The prize is awarded to a team based at UK university or college that can best demonstrate collaborative working with an industrial partner.
Applications from any scientific academic discipline are welcome, including the social sciences, humanities, natural sciences, medical sciences and biological sciences. Projects focusing on sector-wide challenges and partnerships involving multiple universities working on collaborative and multi-disciplinary projects are also eligible.
Collaborations eligible for consideration should fulfil the following:
- Demonstrate long-term partnership: covering a minimum of five years of active, strategic engagement.
- Showcase originality and national importance: be able to explain why the collaboration is unique and nationally significant.
- Align with institutional goals: be able to give examples of how the partnership has helped the host institution meet its goals.
- Impact society: how the collaboration benefits UK society and any broader global impact.
The winning team is awarded £25,000 to fund knowledge transfer activities to maximise the impact of their project.
