UKRI Announces Extension of All Imminent Deadlines
UKRI Announces Extension of All Imminent Deadlines
UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) has announced that imminent calls and competitions overseen by the organisation will be delayed in response to the coronavirus/COVID-19 pandemic.
UKRI has emphasised that the academic and research community has risen to the challenge presented by COVID-19 and demonstrated innovative ways of working. However, the scale of the situation means there will be major impacts on all existing awards from UKRI. UKRI is continuing to engage with the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) and other government departments to keep the research community as informed as possible. It is also continuing to engage with the sector to understand the full extent of their issues, and recognises that the current situation may present additional challenges to those intending to apply.
Based on these discussions, UKRI currently plans for funding programmes to continue, but deadlines on all open funding opportunities will be extended to give applicants more time to submit their applications. ‘No-cost’ extension requests to grants impacted by coronavirus will be allowed.
A full list of the calls currently affected is available here. These extensions will be managed on a case-by-case basis. Calls already extended will be revised regularly and, if necessary, extended further. In exceptional circumstances, calls may be reopened.
Applicants are advised to refer to the call guidance documentation or contact specific councils for more information. Researchers are advised to visit the webpages of Innovate UK and Research England for information regarding the calls affecting these funders.
