Wissenschaftskolleg zu Berlin (Institute for Advanced Study Berlin) is an academic institution dedicated to international exchange and the advancement of science and research. It is borne by the Ernst Reuter Science Foundation, which receives its basic funding in equal parts from the Senate Chancellery Higher Education and Research of the State of Berlin and the Federal Ministry of Education and Research and which has also been institutionally supported by the Swiss State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovatio.
Wissenschaftskolleg zu Berlin operates an extensive Fellowship Programme which brings together 40 internationally recognised senior as well as promising junior scholars from all fields of knowledge, including the humanities, the social sciences, and the arts. The Wiko Early Career Fellowship Programme is designed to support researchers in the early career of their careers. The initiative offer scholars the opportunity to complete their research project free from the pressures of everyday academic life. During a residency in Berlin, they will be given the chance to develop new ideas and bring old projects to a successful conclusion.
The programme is divided into two funding lines:
- Early Career Fellowships in the humanities and social sciences.
- Early Career Fellowships in the life and natural sciences.
